Swiss digital signature certification (ZertES) and European standard (ETSI)

KPMG Switzerland was asked to audit SwissSign AG by the Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS) and the Swiss Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) and certified as an official certification services provider. OFCOM’s official entry is here

SwissSign AG is authorized and able to issue qualified electronic certificates, which correspond with Swiss law (the Swiss Electronic Signature Act or ZertES) and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). The Swiss Electronic Signature Act, ZertES, officially took effect on 1 January 2005 and enabled the secure, provable, and legally valid development of electronic business transactions as well as electronic document archiving.

Member of the Microsoft Root Certificate Program

 

Microsoft uses WebTrust for Certificate Authorities or a similar audit tool from other providers to check whether Microsoft customers have access to trustworthy certification sites. In addition, Microsoft uses other technological standards as the basis for a list of trustworthy certification sites. SwissSign AG is a member of this program and recognized as trustworthy by Microsoft. As a Microsoft Windows user, you can use the SwissSign AG certification site for secure electronic trading.

Member of the Mozilla Foundation for Root Certificates

As a user of Network Security Services (NSS) based applications, you are able to use the SwissSign AG certification site for secure electronic transactions and communications.

NSS is used by Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird, and SeaMonkey also with OpenOffice, Pidgin, Camino, Flock, and many other Linux and Mac OS X based programs.
