New SwissSign Issuing CA Certificates

Important notice for developers and providers of applications, which are based on the trustworthiness of SwissSign certificates:

Starting from 1st September 2008, SwissSign will release all new customer certificates from the latest generation of issuing CAs. This new generation of issuing CAs has a life expectancy of 15 years and will be used for the active issuing of certificates for persons and machines for the next 8-10 years.

The old issuing CA certificates will remain valid and will continue to provide revocation status information.

What does this mean for you?

- For current certificate holders, this change will have no effect. Your certificate remains secure and valid, and you can continue to use it until the end of its normal life cycle.
- For application developers and providers, this change means that the new certificates must be installed in web servers and other application servers, so that the new user certificates can be used for authentication and verification without difficulties.

For the following issuing CAs the new CA certificates will be activated starting from 1st September 2008:

- Qualified Platinum G2
- Swiss Post Platinum CA - G2
- Personal Platinum G2

- Personal Gold G2
- Server Gold G2

- Personal Silver G2
- Server Silver G2

- Personal Bronze G2

Hereafter you can download a ZIP archive of the new certificates, which have already been issued but not yet activated. Please integrate these new certificates into your applications so that they continue to function after the switch and in order for the new customer certificates to be correctly checked.
